2002 Excalibur Donates WDE Grand Champion Award
For the fifth consecutive year, Excalibur Sires presented the Grand Champion Rosette to the owners of the World Dairy Expo Holstein Grand Champion. The 2002 winner, a perennial tanbark favorite, was Van Dyk-K Integrity Paradise, owned and exhibited by Kent Van Dyk and Mark Rueth of Deerfield, WI. This stylish, well-balanced Integrity daughter went on to be named Supreme Champion of the entire 2002 World Dairy Expo.
A win at Madison only continued this year’s winning streak for Paradise, as she was also Grand Champion of the Wisconsin State Show earlier in July. Nominated All-American Five-Year-Old in 2001, Paradise was the winning Five-Year-Old and Grand Champion at the Midwest Spring National and the WI Championship Show. She was also the second place Five-Year-Old and Reserve Grand Champion at the Mid-East Spring National that same year. Besides her tremendous success in the show-ring, Paradise completed an outstanding four-year-old record of: 4-01 365d 35,460 3.9% 1372 3.5% 1233.
“We are pleased to present this award to the owners of Paradise. She’s an outstanding individual and a very deserving winner of the Supreme Champion honors. She’s proven herself as a show winner and a production winner, which is why we have added not only Paradise’s full brother to our lineup, but an Encore son as well,” stated Excalibur co-owner David Winkels.
Van Dyk K Integrit PISTOL (204HO2017) is currently available, and has a parent average of +1.68 PTAT; +1.36 UDC; and +1211 PTPI. Pistol’s dam is an EX-90 Broker daughter that completed her five-year-old record at: 5-06 365d 41,460 3.7% 1535 3.2% 1306. The next dam is a 2E-94 Mark, preceded by two more EX dams. This popular young sire has also been tested CVM free. Mr. Paradise Power, an Encore son from Paradise, will be available during the spring of 2003.

"A record number of 61 AI nominations from all corners
of the earth did not make it easy for our readers to answer the
question "Which is the most attractive young bull of
1998?" Indeed the 61 pedigrees covered the whole gamut of
international top genetics. The offering went from respected show
pedigrees, via proven cow families, on to the highest index
pedigrees. Although more complex, the high number of entrants
increased the chance that your favorite bull was available in the
March issue. The results of our reader's votes also displayed
considerable variation due to the large number of bulls to choose
from. However, for some parts of the ranking only minimal
differences in points determined the final positions of our reader's
favorite bulls.
