ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA – November 14, 2005 – Excalibur Sires is thrilled to announce the premier of their new mating program called G.E.M: Genetic Evaluation Mating.  With the help of highly trained evaluators, G.E.M. will save the producer time by creating a personalized selection index that picks ideal bulls for their particular breeding program. By matching cows to the bulls that will correct their weak points, dairymen all over the world will be able to reap HUGE profits from their breeding programs.

            As with many of the cutting edge programs introduced by Excalibur Sires, G.E.M. for Windows is EXTREMELY easy to use.  Sire selections are made from a data base which analyzes each animal individually on their major type traits and on a linear scale.  Data from other sources such as herd management programs can also be loaded into G.E.M. for use when making breeding decisions.  Matings are based on a producer’s breeding goals while putting emphasis on the traits that need improvement the most – for example, feet and legs, and udders.  Another BIG benefit to G.E.M. is that it helps the producer manage inbreeding levels and also has the unique capability to show a summary of the bulls the producer has selected in relationship to all the active A.I. bulls available in the program.

            G.E.M. results can be printed on the farm or may be exported for use in other programs such as an Excel or other dairy management programs.  When it’s time to breed each cow, it will take only seconds to look at the printed results to make your decision.
